My Noosa Holiday

My Noosa holiday started about 33 years ago when I first visited with a friend. We travelled up from Brisbane in an old Holden station wagon taking over 3 hours. The same trip only takes about one and a half hours these days. We set up camp in the Woods Caravan Park at the bottom end of Hastings Street in the rain and dark. Morning came, with it came sunshine and two days of discovering what Noosa had to offer.

Simple things like Betty’s famous $1 Burgers, cold beer on the deck of the Reef Hotel overlooking Laguna Bay, only a couple of shops in a relatively quiet Hastings Street and uncrowded surf breaks certainly made a lasting impression. That weekend I realised Noosa was and still is special, I knew I had to return some day.

That day came seven years later when my wife and I purchased a property in the Noosa hinterland. It still felt too far away so several houses and many years later we are now only minutes away from all Noosa has to offer. Whether it is the people, the beaches, the river, the natural beauty or laid back lifestyle, Noosa is still a very special place to me.

The years have passed and Noosa has undergone many changes. Not all of them favourable but that laid back village atmosphere everyone enjoys still exists.

To this day I am still enjoying my Noosa holiday.
